A long list of models is not yet a useful shortlist. Start by writing down what the freezer must do, what your site can accommodate and which facts you still need to confirm.

1. Describe the job before the cabinet
List the products, package sizes and access pattern. Is this staff-only reserve stock, frequent kitchen access or customer-facing display? Record the actual containers and handling workflow instead of translating the menu or store size directly into a cubic-foot guess.
Ask the team using the freezer where delays happen today. A purchasing brief should explain the problem the new equipment is intended to solve.
2. Compare formats by the questions they raise

These are questions to investigate, not universal rankings. Do not infer that all models in a format have the same suitability.
3. Keep residential and commercial evidence separate
The U.S. Department of Energy treats residential freezers and commercial refrigeration as separate efficiency categories. A household freezer energy example is not a reliable stand-in for an unspecified commercial model. ENERGY STAR also describes commercial equipment in the context of demanding operating environments.
4. Write down the unanswered items
Create three columns: confirmed, assumed and awaiting supplier confirmation. An unresolved electrical requirement, delivery-route measurement or warranty condition belongs in the third column—not in a hidden footnote after the order.
